What Is Profhilo®?
Profhilo® contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available in any cosmetic skin treatment. It consists of a combination of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid.
Unlike most hyaluronic acid which are cross-linked using chemical agents, Profhilo® is thermally stabilised ensuring it contains pure hyaluronic acid which allows it to have a longer lasting effect.
The high molecular weight component of Profhilo® provides support and structure to the skin. Whereas the low molecular weight component helps to hydrate the skin and stimulate the formation of 4 different types of new collagen and elastin from within the skin.
This action helps to tighten loose skin and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Profhilo® is therefore considered as a skin bio-remodelling treatment which essentially boosts the skin resulting in the well-known “Profhilo® glow” look.
Why Profhilo Requires Two Treatments
Profhilo is designed to deliver natural, long lasting skin rejuvenation, and the treatment works best as a two‑step process. For optimal results, the recommended protocol is two sessions spaced four weeks apart. Here’s why.
How the Two‑Session Protocol Works
- The first treatment kick‑starts hydration and collagen production
Profhilo contains one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid available. After the first session, it spreads evenly through the skin, delivering deep hydration and beginning the process of stimulating collagen and elastin. This creates the foundation for smoother, firmer, healthier‑looking skin.
- The four‑week gap allows your skin to remodel
Over the next few weeks, your fibroblasts become more active, gradually producing new collagen and elastin. This natural remodelling phase is essential, it’s where the real transformation begins.
- The second treatment strengthens and prolongs the results
The follow‑up session reinforces the first, boosting hydration levels and enhancing collagen stimulation. This ensures results are more visible, more even, and longer‑lasting, typically around 6 months.

Profhilo® Treatment Advice
Pre Profhilo® Advice
Avoid taking any NSAIDS (Non-Steroidal anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen or naproxen) 48 hours prior to treatment. Please note if you are taking this medication for a medical reason then do not stop this but ensure you contact us prior to treatment. Stopping NSAIDS prior to treatment helps to minimise the risk of bruising.
Avoiding any alcohol intake 48 hours prior to treatment. Also avoid supplements such as: Fish oils, Ginkgo Biloba, Vitamin E, St John’s wort and excessive amounts of ginger/garlic for at least 3 days prior to treatment helps to minimise the risk of bruising.
Post Profhilo® Advice
For at least 48 hours or until the initial swelling and redness has resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat or extreme cold.
Avoid alcohol for the next 48 hours after your treatment
Avoid ibuprofen/anti-inflammatory medication/aspirin and vitamin E for 48 hours after treatment to reduce the risk of bruising/bleeding.
For the next 48 hours you should avoid hot showers, strenuous exercise as this may increase discomfort and swelling.
For 1 week you should avoid exposure to UV light and excessive heat i.e. sauna, steam rooms and sun beds as this may increase discomfort and swelling.
Keep the area cool with a clean cold compress if there is some discomfort, but don’t apply ice directly onto the skin which can cause injury.
Try to avoid unnecessary pressure over any areas treated, especially in the first 24 Hours.
Avoid facial massages or skin resurfacing until the area has healed fully.
Avoid cosmetic treatments such as laser, ultrasound, peels, facials or micro-dermabrasion for 2 weeks after your treatment.
Avoid wearing makeup until 24 hours after your treatment
Avoid touching the treatment area for 24 hours after the treatment.
Do not massage or manipulate the treated area.
Apply SPF50 sunscreen regularly.
Ensure you are well hydrated by drinking at least 1.5-2 Litres of water daily.
Reduce the risk of infection and reaction by not touching the area for 24 hours. Do not apply make-up over the injection points until 24 hours after your treatment.
Please also change your pillow case today and clean your glasses/sunglasses and mobile phone to minimise the risk of infection.
